I've turned a new leaf.
Danielle and I spent the day shopping in Southampton, which is right by the water! I want to go back sometime when the weather is sunnier and just... sit. Anyway, we walked around a bunch of shoppes and bought a few things. I had brought my new Beatles tote bag with me, an eco-friendly jute one from London, and randomly told cashiers to stop giving me plastic bags.
I've been meaning to start shopping with a tote for a long time, but never got one. Watching my plastic bag pile grow always made me cringe. If I wanted to be really serious, I wouldn't buy things at all, but how is that practical? This way I can cut down on absolutely needless waste, like bags that I only use until I get home from the store and then later recycle. But if I don't use them at all, I don't even need to recycle them.
The University of Winchester doesn't recycle so I feel like I need to do something. To be honest, I think this bag thing is a result of my guilt for having to throw out my plastic bottles until now. I learned today I would have to stockpile my Fanta bottles and walk with them for at least 10 minutes to a drop-off point. I start today. :)
